August 12, 1991- the first dog killed because of Breed Specific Legislation and thousands more followed.

It’s incredibly important we show the impact of unethical journalism. When the media purposefully feeds the fear mongering propaganda machine blood is usually spilled and victims are born.

Dogs were taken from homes and labeled as hell hounds. Innocent dogs. Innocent dogs that never hurt anyone. Innocent families watched their beloved pet be dragged out on a catch pole- frightened and struggling. Innocent dogs taken. Secret kennels for a group of people to figure out if the dog was a dangerous breed. Thousands of innocent dogs never made it back home.

One last wimper… On August 12,1991- the United Kingdom killed it’s first pit bull type dog. The media glorified it. The media rejoiced in it and the media profited from it. Fear sells and innocent families and innocent dogs will continue to pay the ultimate price.

32 pit bull type dogs were euthanized over the celebratory 4th of July weekend.

While families were lighting off fire works, sharing drinks and enjoying life, 32 lives were being snuffed out at one single shelter, Baldwin Park.

This is the reality but it never truly becomes real until you start seeing the actual numbers. 32 dogs, surrendered- many probably due to housing restrictions and many thanks to back yard breeders dumping dogs they can’t sell…. But whatever the reason, 32 pit type dogs were killed in just one shelter in just one weekend, in one city, in one state. Can you imagine the numbers if just one shelter in every city in every state for one day followed suit?

Let’s work with 35,000 cities. 35,000 × 32= 1,120,000. Are you comfortable with over a million dogs euthanized?

Lets thank Breed Specific Legislation & Back yard breeders for being perfectly okay with these numbers.

32 dogs were failed because humans failed them. 32 dogs euthanized because the system is busting at the seams. 32 dogs destroyed and tossed out like garbage because people want to create laws that give no other option but to kill these dogs. 32 dogs had their lives snuffed out because people wanted to make a quick buck. Millions of dogs face this fate but today- let us take a moment and remember these 32 amazing dogs that were never given a chance.

Do you see this dog? You have destroyed this dog. This dog is incapable of doing anything- it can barely hold itself up much less walk. 

It’s disgusting how proud you are of your backyard breeding project. It’s disgusting and it should be criminal. I have no issue with responsible & ethical breeders, it’s those breeders that work to better their breeds of choice but these back yard breeders…  

 

These backyard breeders are a infection, a virus in the dog community. You heard me, if you are a backyard breeder-  you are a cancer and you need to be cut out.

  

I get it- these dogs are your cash cows, they pay your rent, buy you fancy crap and a claim to fame. Everything you have is because you have your dogs pump out litter after litter of inbred mutations that will never have a chance at life because you’ll just inbred those puppies too.

  75 freaking dogs with no purpose but to bring in money. Thousands of dollars for what? Dogs that have been overbred, inbred, barely able to walk, breath, stand…. thousands of dollars for a dog that may live 3 years?

  Seriously, if you can look at this dog and think it’s a fine representation of ANY breed- you need to go slice your finger and jump into shark infested waters.

  If you think this dog is healthy and living up to any sort of life for a dog – please, please, please do the world a favor and go play in traffic.

  Abusing dogs all because you don’t wanna work a real f@cking job.

  

Humans are TOTALLY the Problem…

I’ve always said our greatest weakness & our biggest strength are one and the same: Humans. 

As dog owners we have the ability to shape our dogs futures. We determine the life they will lead in our care and we are responsible for how society views our dogs and as advocates we have to step up and make it perfectly clear:

Your dog is not your child’s/children’s f@cking jungle gym.

  

 I totally agree- people are the problem. People who think it’s cute for a 30 lb. + child to climb onto a dogs back are the problem. Casey is part of the problem and everyone who looks at that picture and goes “awwwwwwww… What a good nanny dog!” are part of the problem. 

That beautiful dog may not have a mean bone in his body but that beautiful dog can’t speak up say, “hey, this kid is hurting me!” but what it can do, because that beautiful dog is animal can snap/bite that child because he’s hurt and it could be tragic and possibly fatal. Not because it’s a pit bull but because it’s a big dog and a small child.

I’ve seen plenty of irresponsible parents throw their dog and a whole breed under the bus because they refused to be responsible. Because it’s easier to blame a dog then to shoulder the blame.

I wonder if that mother realizes that if that dog had bitten that child, Daxton Friends & Dogsbite.org members will plaster that picture all over their hate sites, creating disgusting meme over & over, mock that child, mock the parents, emotionally & physically scar that child for life, call for more bans and BSL and cause the death of innocent dogs, tear apart families… all because she thought it was cute for her child to sit on her dog.

Come on parents, please wake up and think- the bottom line is:

You as parents are the front line when preventing preventable tragedies, it’s time to step up and start acting responsible. Please?

Mandy Sue… Loud & Proud

If a dog winds up dead in your neighborhood and Mandy Sue is your neighbor- go ahead and point them in her direction.

  
She has no issue:

  1. Buying a controlled substance illegally 
  2. Endangering animals & children
  3. Engage in animal cruelty
  4. Destruction of property (I.e killing a pet that’s not hers.)

Ladies & Gents, say hello to Mandy Sue…. She’s loud & proud… about killing your dog and she just doesn’t care if you know.

A Black Eye

…… Mickey. I swear to God, that one dog brings out everything & everyone bad within our advocacy.

  
Let’s be real- 99.999999999% of people have no freaking clue what really went on in that back yard. A bone, no bone, chained but never aggressive, chained but killed a dog before, child was supervised, child was unsupervised…. the only thing we do know is a young boy was brutally mauled by Mickey.

This was a moment. This was a moment in time that completely bitch slapped every single hard working pit bull/rescue advocate right in the face. 

Why? Because it brought out the jaw dropping stupidest, ignorant, cruel and embarrassing people ever and they wrecked chaos & havoc on everything we’ve worked so hard for and BSL Advocates slurped it up like a .99 cent slurpy on a scorching hot Arizona day.

I’m not going to debate if Mickey should have been put to sleep because it’s moot. The courts didn’t decide to euthanize him, thousands of people poured money and more money into helping him with the intent of making him the face of our advocacy. 

  
But, as I sit back and listen, read and watch and I wonder if anyone else just watched our cause take 20 steps backwards. Like it or not- the case of Mickey the pit bull/bulldog/whatever was a monumental controversial event in our advocacy.

I like to think I just don’t advocate for dogs, I advocate for healthy, responsible human & dog relationships. I advocate for dogs that have a chance and let’s face it- Mickey never had that chance when he ripped open a child’s face. I get it, humans failed Mickey and that’s sad BUT we have to remember humans failed his victim too. I have absolutely no clue WHY the owners were never charged, but then again- I have no clue WHY numerous dog owners aren’t charged when their dogs attacks but….

I remember reading a lady compare Mickey to the Vicks dogs and my eyes rolled so far back I was peeking at my brain. Last time I checked, not one of Vicks dogs crushed a child’s eye socket. When I picture dogs to represent our advocacy, I think of Vicks dogs. I think of dogs growing old  with their families, I think of healthy and stable pit bulls with a few fixable issues sitting in kennels on borrowed time- I advocate for those dogs. I think of surrendered pit bulls/bully breeds to shelters because their family has to be forced to chose between a roof over their head or their family dog based on BSL- I advocate for those dogs.

  Now a little message to those POS jerk offs that said the most cruelest of things about the traumatized, mangled little boy- you are not the voice of my dog.  If you POS embraced the boy with just as much love & compassion as you did with Mickey- BSL Advocates wouldn’t be able to highlight plaster your ignorance all over the place. In fact- it would have stripped them of their stupid stereotyping pit bull owners- but noooo…. Now, that child will read alllll of those cruel remarks and become another pawn for those soul sucking parasites at Dogsbite.org. Time will tell….
